All Makerspace programs will be canceled until further notice
What is Makerspace?
One of the exciting ways libraries are evolving to meet the needs of the community is the addition of “makerspaces” where people of all ages and abilities can create, invent and share ideas using equipment supplied by the library. In 2016 Mariposa was awarded a $14,000 Library Services and Technology grant from the State Library to develop a makerspace program. Called Green S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math), the program is based on a sustainable (green) theme. Participants work with used and low-impact materials and learn about the science behind the various activities. Workshops include arts and crafts, sustainable living, food and nutrition, 3D printing, robotics and computer programming, writing and self-publishing.
